Hi Abby,
Both are great professions to pursue. Something big to think about is what kind of work environment and general lifestyle seems like a better fit for you. A big difference between being a dentist and a dental hygienist is the level of responsibility and flexibility you get with each. With being a dentist, you are able to see a variety of different cases, set your own schedule, and be your own boss by owning your own practice. Being a dental hygienist is also great - you are the first line provider that gets to build a relationship with long-term patients. However, you may not get the same flexibility and autonomy as a dentist may have. But it all depends on what you are looking for! Good luck.

Hi Abby,
That is completely up to you! I would recommend contacting a local dentists office and asking if you can come in for informational interviews with the dentist and a hygienist. This will help you get a better understanding of both roles to help make your decision. Good luck!
