David’s Answer

Abby, become a dental hygienist, or dental assistant. The best dental hygienist, I’ve ever had, was my own dentist. Who also happens to be my closest friend. He uses dental assistants, in the front and back office. Would you want a dentist that just graduated from dental college, or one who has been working in a dental office as a hygenist/dental assistant, before they even went?

Tatsiana’s Answer

Hello Abby! I am a dental hygienist and I started out as a dental assistant. It made me fall in love with the dental field even more. In most states you can be trained on the job to become a dental assistant so it will eliminate the school expenses. Once you definitely decide that dental field is for you you can advance your education and apply to dental hygiene school: 2 years of prerequisites and 2 years of dental hygiene school. If you already feel strongly about the field- I would say go for hygiene school-stable income and a very good career. Dental field is awesome. Good luck!
