Parth’s Answer

Hi, Ezhilarasi

Information technology is a very wide and undefined area. Two major paths you can take from that is either become an engineer or become data analyst. Engineers usually work on product development, software that goes with physical products, they write code and algorithms to run the product. Basically backend engine.

Data analysis is a new an emerging area where people have so much data that they gather but they don't know what to do with it. So data analyst can work on data security, managing systems where data is housed or working within the company to analyze data so that different teams can use that data to make decisions.

Hopefully this was helpful overview. Let me know if you need more details.

Lipika’s Answer

Hi Ezhilarasi ,

Information Technology is a big umbrella where-in one can be a developer, tester, system administrator, project & product manager, business analyst and so forth.

Since you like programming, you can start with a computer science course in BE/Btech or MCA and take it from there.

In a nutshell, Information Technology is a medium to solve real world problems in a variety of business areas like healthcare, banking, education, e-governance, media, security, networking, and the list goes on. So start with programming and keep exploring!
