Angela D.’s Answer

Hi Morgan,
Greetings! Good question. The University of South Dakota has a B.S. degree in Dental Hygiene only (https://www.usd.edu/health-sciences/dental-hygiene/undergraduate). If you want to become a Dentist then you will need to go to school out of state. Check out this website: https://www.asdanet.org/utility-navigation/about-asda It's from the American Student Dental Association. They have lots of resources, such as predental steps to take, which states have dental schools and their websites, the process of getting into dental school, etc.
Also, you may want to chat with the folks in your dental office when you next visit and get their opinions on their jobs, what they like the most/least, how long did it take to become qualified to do what they do, etc. It's best to keep it short (5 minutes or so) and explain to them at the beginning that you are thinking of entering the dental field after you graduate.
Best of luck to you, Dr. B

Angela D. recommends the following next steps:

More online research.
Ask questions at your next dental visit.

Steven’s Answer

There are no dental schools in South Dakota. The nearest schools to you apparently are Creighton in Omaha and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
