Hi Jack,
Several students have similar question. I think ur going to find a lot of open positions in any engineering job.
My suggestion would be to pick a job side like Indeed, LinkedIn jobs, etc. enter ur interested engineering major and look at the jobs that are posted in the last 30 days.
All the Best!

Hi Jack K. Thanks so much for your question. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.
Having worked in the field of engineering for quite a while now, I don't believe there is a lack of job opportunity is any engineering discipline. In my opinion, the focus is more on the type of work that may be in demand. For example, software programming/engineering could be considered as strong "cousin" to computer engineering. Logistics or supply chain management could be considered strong "cousins" to industrial engineering. I share these examples because it may be a better use of time to understand what the job type and/or expectation is.
In general, there are many different job types, that are in high demand, that span across multiple traditional engineering fields. What I hope doesn't happen...don't limit yourself based on the name of an engineering field. Keep your mind open to tasks that employers seek. And keep that open mind even after you are hired. That open mind will take you and your career a long way.
Best of luck!

Hi Jack,
I think the amount of availible positions for each field will vary depending on where you live. If you live near a city there's likely a lot more opportunites for each field.
But through my experience in the job hunt. I've seen a lot of open positions in the Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering field. Both of which are good fields to get involved with.
Best of luck!

Software engineering currently has the most available jobs. Based on your interest and passion you can decide on what stream you want to enter. Example - if you are good at coding you can go into development route.

I think not going to study an engineering major because it may have the most positions. It is more to find out which field you really love and what you really want to do in your future. If you love something then you will do well and you can find a job in that field easily.
