Hi Caitlynn!

To be a social worker, it takes education and experience to get into the career field! From what I have observed from many of my friends and colleagues, you'll need to pursue a Bachelor's and Master's degree in your desired niche of social work, possibly a certificate program as well! The experience you gain during college can come from internships, campus jobs, even working in school districts. People who pursue social work usually have a driving reason as to why, whether it be the foster care system, behavior intervention, even special needs; the list goes on!

My advice is to find your niche. It doesn't have to be right away once you start college, but get an idea for what sector of social work you are interested in and would enjoy. Social work is a great choice and many opportunities arise as a result of earning your credentials and relevant experience.

Good luck!
