Emily’s Answer

In my company, botany labs pertain to seed growth and genetic selection. Dow in Michigan has several botany labs that you could potentially co-op in as you get about halfway through schooling. I am a lab tech and I needed 16 hours of chemistry to start working in a lab here.

Emily recommends the following next steps:

Explore Dow programs in Michigan
Explore Laboratory Technician or Analytical Technician degrees for entry level lab work

Scott’s Answer

I took several botany labs and it will depend on the course. The standard lab will cover plant identification and these will be based on the course for commercial horticultural (wheat, corn and beans), or landscaping plants to entomological plants for medicine and evasive species. You could also be in plant parasitetology labs that have you are exposing plants to diseases to document the process of disease progression.
