Hi Nick, the way you register your business really depends on what you are doing and how you're doing it. If you're cutting neighbors' lawns, you may consider a sole proprietorship or LLC. If you are doing something with other people, you may want to consider an LLC, general partnership, or LLP. Before you do anything, familiarize yourself with each type of business by doing thorough research into which is best for you. You will want to consider how you treat profits, how you are taxed, and liability (what you can be held accountable for in case of a lawsuit or if you default on loans).

An LLC has the most advantages when compared to a sole proprietorship or partnership. You can contact the Incorporation Guide at 800-648-0966 for information and questions, or got to USA.gov.
