How to treat the mentally ill people?

Treating mental illness requires a team approach. This includes a medical doctor, a counselor, the patient, the family, and the teacher. They need to communicate with each other, otherwise, the doctor will never know if a medication is not working. It also requires honesty: the patient needs to communicate if they are experiencing side effects from the medicines. Many years ago, mentally ill people were locked away, and forgotten about. Now we try to include them in everyday activities as much as possible. Sometimes this requires modifications to the regular way of doing things, so plans are made to adapt a lesson to the needs of the mentally ill. It is a very challenging, and very rewarding career.
