what are the job opportunities for chemical engineers?
My strong subjects are chemistry and mathematics. I am conceptually good in physics. My parents feel except for pharmaceutical industry, there are no other job opportunities. Pay is not as lucrative as the IT sector. #research #chemical-engineer

I studied chemical engineering as an undergrad, but ended up working for a tech company after I graduated. First, from my experience, I'd say that the compensation is equivalent to the IT/tech sector, so don't let that influence you too much one way or the other. Its more important that you enjoy what you study (and ultimately) what you do for a career, then to go chase signing bonuses and salary figures. If you figure that out, get good grades, then you're likely to get a good lucrative job.
Second, ChemE's work in all sectors... from personal care products you find under your sink and in your medicine cabinet at companies like Proctor and Gamble, to making every bottle of Coke taste the same, to formulating the fuels that power the bus you take to get to class. ChemE's are involved from everything from toothpaste, to brewing beer, to refining oil and making alternative fuels. They also do water purification and other process engineering design fields that require "scaling up" from a scientist's bench top to industrial factories.
In my case, Microsoft hired me because of my chemical engineering skills. They liked that I was trained in a different discipline and could come and infuse the company with creative and out of the box thinking.
Good luck!

Chemical Engineers get recruited in all companies, including IT. My cousin is working with TCS. (an example)
Top companies in India like Reliance (RIL) and other PSU's recruit Chemical Engineers.
So keep your focus and explore the field!
