I have heard various famous vloggers say that you should not choose vlogging as a career if you are not passionate about something. They often say they didn't choose vlogging as career and they just started shooting and sharing one of their passions. None of them had their 100k or 1M followers when they started their channel. They started slow and its their passion for whatever they are sharing through their vlogs, that made them kept going and gradually get to a point where the vlogging really becomes a source of income.

Hi Teree!
From what I have noticed from today's growing vlog community, you'll need good communication skills, familiarity with editing/production, and marketing tools to be successful. Vlogging is an investment of time and money, so make sure you have a stable foundation to start your platform if you are serious about it.
YouTube is the go-to for starting vlogging channels, but successful vloggers utilize more than just their primary channel. They engage the public on multiple forms of social media like Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, even TikTok! You want to establish your persona and presence on as many platforms you feel comfortable with. From 100 views to 1 million, you're in the public eye as a vlogger... keep that in mind! You have to learn how to market yourself and create a brand that people will want to see and potentially invest in.
Depending on your grade level, see if there are any elective courses you can take geared towards public/media communication and video production! Those will usually serve as basics until you choose to pursue more heavy course loads at the college level. Even practicing on your own by recording on your phone and editing clips together with standard programming like iMovie is a great start as well. Long story short, build up your repertoire.
Hope this helped a little bit. Good luck with your pursuits!
