Hi Logan - great question! I know nothing about being a Forest Ranger but I do love our national parks. However - I can give you basic job search advice that will apply to any career. It comes down to doing your research and making connections with people in the job that you are interested in. Do you know any Forest Rangers? If so - talk to them! If you don't know any Forest Rangers personally, don't worry. Are you close to or can you go visit any of the national parks in Oklahoma? If so - ask at the visitor center if anyone would be willing to have a conversation with you - or better yet, call ahead and make an appointment. This is what is called an "informational interview". You are doing the interviewing of the person in the job you like, finding out about their career path, what they do on a daily basis, what education they received, etc. If you can't talk to someone in person, you can always try to set up a phone interview with a Ranger. Maybe find the park(s) you are most interested in and just call them. It may take a little work but I would imagine that most people would love to talk about their job and experiences. And of course - there's Google. You can do all sorts of Google searches about your question.
This advice can be used for any job. The best way to learn about what a job is like is to find someone who has it, and talk to them. Good luck - and thank you for taking an interest in our parks. They are wonderful and worth preserving!
Set up informational interviews with 3 Forest Rangers, either in person or over the phone.
Do some Google searches for "the daily life of a Forest Ranger" and see what you find.
