Mike’s Answer

Hi Alysa! A degree in business or accounting would be great for you. I was a mechanical engineer in college, but went back for a masters in business a few years later. Math skills are critical for each field. If you like the business side and aren't as interested in devices or machines or computers, then accounting is a great area to study. Finance is more about business planning and measurement, and blends business skills (sales, marketing, financial questions about investments, etc.) with accounting. Each would be good options for you. good luck!

Mathematics is a door-opener for future career paths, business administration and related disciplines included.

Based on my understanding of your question, you are currently in your journey in arithmetic, the very basics vocabulary and operations in the future pursuit in the field of mathematics. If you have passion in mathematics, this is a very good start.

There is a lot of applications of mathematics in the area of business. The obvious discipline is accounting. Furthermore, mathematics is an important tool in operational cost optimization, forecasting, econometrics, and so on.

Qing’s Answer

Hi Alysa,
with your passion and skills in mathematics and business, there are many functions/ areas in business you could choose from such as sales, accounting, marketing, HR, business development, supply chain . As a full-time worker, you're expected to work 40 hours a week in general. In some highly competitive industries/ companies, it's not surprising that many people tend to work more than 40 hours in reality. I don't think there's an age limit in business. I saw some people in business including entrepreneurs still work when they're in their 70's /80's because they're still mentally and physically capable. Hope it helps. :)
