Qualifications in technology/programming/specific domains is an added benefit as most successful people managers have an educational background relevant to their work. Work experience plays a bigger role, of course. Demonstrating that you have led teams and/or projects successfully will be a big advantage.

Hi Catherine,
Ideally hiring for a manager usually happens within the organization.. in order to join Dell as front line you would need minimum 10+2/3 years of study with experience or any graduation with good communication and basic computer knowledge. (having MBA is an advantage) Once you join the organization you would need to be consistent in your performance and grow up the ladder.
