Teresa’s Answer

Hi Arturo,
My experience working with prospective Welding students has shown the most challenging subjects are Math and English. Take note that most public colleges that offer an Associate of Applied Science degree in Welding also offer lower level certificates in which all of the Welding classes will transfer to the degree. That is one option if the Math and English requirements seem too far away.

However, getting a certificate first does not mean stopping school. I advise for students to continue attending school part -time while working. This allows students to opportunity to focus all academic energy on one personally challenging subject at a time.

Try not to take the hard classes at the same time.

Work with your academic advisor and Welding instructors. Get to know your classmates. I am confident that you are not alone in feeling anxious about the dreaded general education classes. Go to tutoring and remain dedicated. Hard work and commitment to your goal are the keys to academic success.

I hope this helps.

All the best,
T
