The Boys and Girls Scouts of America have some wonderful explorer programs you may be interested in. T
I was interested in becoming a doctor while in high school. I was able to join an medical explorer program that allowed me to meet at a local hospital, volunteer in patient assistance, and make strong connections with medical professionals in the fields I was interested in pursuing.
My brother joined the firefighter explorer program and had the same type of opportunities around our city at various fire stations. From there, while in high school, he was given the opportunity to enroll in a EMT program and after many more years, became a paramedic.
It's a really great starting point to begin to make connections in the field you are interested in.
Best Wishes to you!

Hi Ricky,

The age and opportunities differ depending on where you live. My recommendation would be to stop by your local fire station and ask! There is typically a crew on call 24 hours a day and would be happy to tell you about any programs they have for volunteering or shadowing. You can also ask how they got started in their careers and what training they had to go through. Come prepared with a few questions - what they love about their job, what they hate about it, what they wish they'd known before they got started. Most people are very happy to share their knowledge with anyone interested in their field.

Good luck!
Janelle

You can also check with your High School to see if they have a program with your Technical School
