I went to school for it in 1982. My first Pipe Certification was API-1104 in 1985

Welding is a great trade to learn. There are different types of welding.

Mig welding is the most common type of welding, and it takes 20hrs.

Stick is an older form of welding and is a bit tougher. It takes 60hrs.

Tig is a more delicate form of welding that is typically higher quality. It can take upwards of 100hrs

Acetylene is like Tig but more uncommon. It takes 120hrs.
