You can learn office administration skills on the job. From using computers at school and school projects it gave me a great basis to go into my career as an office admin. You can develop you career quickly if you enjoy it and are well organised and have an eye for detail. I would suggest doing some online training in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

If you have a foundation of basic office administration skills it opens you up to a wide variety of roles. The list is endless. Administrative skills and organisations skills are really sought after from companies. It takes time to develop these skills through day to day tasks and of course some outside classes. Jobs in both the public and private sector, in large scale companies and small scale. In the medical field, law, sales, technology...basically in every job sector you can think of. So find out which sector you would like to work in. If your caring personality maybe the health sector would suit. If you have a passion for travel maybe the travel industry would suit. You can work in a job as an Executive Assistant, Personal Assistant, Senior Administrative Assistant, Events Management, Medical Secretary. And there is also the change to really get involved in other projects when you are an administrator. It is a great role and one where career progression is huge. Good luck.

Good question! The education you'll need will depend on the level (entry level or more advanced), area of speciality, and the degree of responsibility the position requires.

For an entry-level position, you may just need a high school diploma and strong organization and attention to detail as well as skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

To serve as an Office Administrator of a company or large team, an Associate's degree in Business Administration could be helpful, which would include some classes in management, operations, and finance. Certain industries may required specialized skills. For example, an Office Administrator in a hospital may need a healthcare administration degree and an understanding of healthcare law.

A good way to learn about requirements for a job is simply to go to a job posting aggregator such as indeed.com or Google for Jobs and put in a search term like "Office Administrator" and filter with various areas like education, years of experience, and then read through the job requirements. That research will give you some insight into what type of education is needed to be qualified for various types and levels of office administrators.

Here's to your career success!

Hi Diego.

In Office Administration it really depends on the specific area you are looking to get into as to what all it would exactly entail. For example, if you wanted to go into medical office, you would need to do medical office administration which would encompass the normal Office Admin schooling but then you would add medical on top of that as you would need to know the filing processes and medical terminology in order to do the job properly. The same would be said for example a position as Office Administration in say a computer sales place. You would need to learn the normal Offfice Admin but then you would add IT to it.

My suggestion would be to figure out what field you want to go into and then plan schooling around it once you get your Office Administration.

Good luck on your journey
