Xiong’s Answer

You can look into getting a bachelor's degree in Communications, Agribusiness Management, or Food and Agricultural Marketing.

If you want to get a head start, you can start working on some of these skills:

1) Written communication skills
To practice this, read what others in your field are writing in emails, or marketing literatures. Develop your own writing styles.

2) Verbal communication skills
Practice active listening, listen with intent on the issues and problems.

3) Attention to Detail
Focus on the small things. Colors, fonts, font size, word usage, context. Obsess over the details.

4) Technology
Email, Social Media, Website, Forums, Photography, Graphic Design, Etc.

5) Interpersonal/Social Skills
Make an effort to meet with people in the agricultural businesses or individual farmers and genuinely connect with them to better understand your audience

6) Networking
Talk to people in the industry, find an existing network/association, go to a conference, call them, email them, message them, connect with them on Linked in.

Bronwyn’s Answer

If your communication skills are a strength and your knowledge on agriculture is very indepth and thorough you could be a lecturer, an extension officer, agronomist, advisor or get into sales. If you live in a farmy area and have a good network of farmers this could get you into sales and you get to travel around and talk to farmers. Extension officers ussually go out to rural areas and give advice to farmers as do agronomists.
