Hi Zyia! Creating your own path and being unique are great things to aspire to. That said, while you don't need to follow anyone, it is definitely a good idea to have mentors; people that you look up to and respect that can provide you the wisdom of their own experience. Seeking the wisdom of mentors can help you to avoid mistakes early on in your career journey and to focus on the right things. So whether its parents, family members, friends or other successful people that you trust, ask them "What were the things that worked for you that you'd recommend for me?" or "What mistakes did you make that I can avoid?".
