How will having a job my first year in college effect my education.
I plan to work hard to keep money in my pocket while I'm away at school but I also want to maintain at least a 3.5 throughout my 4 years. #college #working

Hi Taleya,
Thank you for the question. I certainly appreciate your willingness to work, attend school and save money. Personally, I would suggest not working through your first semester if you can help it. College requires a huge adjustment which will be stressful enough on its own without the pressures of work.
At the very least, though, I think you should at least give yourself a month to get somewhat adjusted to college life. After that first month, you can see how you're feeling and then slowly transition to working just a few hours a week. Then, as you get more adjusted, you can possibly pick up more hours down the road.
Oh, and don't get so caught up in balancing school and work that you forget to have some fun! =)

Working during college years is possible and I personally encourage it because it is part of your experience that can also help you know what you like to do and what kind of professional career you want to follow later on.
On the other hand, it can be challenging especially the first year and semester since you are entering a new environment and it can take time to adapt. I believe it is possible but the most important thing in order to achieve this is time management.
