Andy’s Answer

Volunteering is a life-long activity. The great thing is who you volunteer for/with changes as you do. It's a great way to learn more about a multitude of organizations, gain useful experience in a field you are studying or interested in pursuing, etc.

Mari’s Answer

Hi Jaime,

You have already gotten some great advice that I totally agree with. You can volunteer for a specific event that has a start and stop date, for example a charity dance or a marathon. Other opportunities are on-going, such as church, Make-A-Wish or a museum. You can volunteer at those as long as you like and as often as you want. Good luck on you endeavors.

Andrea’s Answer

Most students commit to 4 to 8 hours of Community Service on their free time. Find out from your School Counselor if you have to commit to volunteering each school year? And if so, ask how many hours are required.
To fully answer your question, the amount of hours or amount of time allotted for volunteering is up to the company itself. So contact the Human Resources department of the company you would like to volunteer for and ask your specific questions.

Rebecca’s Answer

You can volunteer all your life. Depending on what it is you are volunteering with; there is no age or time limit. Some volunteer activities can be quite physical; therefore you would have to take into account your own physical shape first. My husband is in his sixties and has been a volunteer ski patroller for over 40 years! As you can see there is no age limit!
