Choose a field of study that interests you and use it as an opportunity to learn how you learn. Everybody learns in different ways and at different rates, the best long term return from college is figuring out what motivates you and using that knowledge to choose a career. Treat college as a full time job by going to class and studying 8 hours a day. And absolutely get out of your comfort zone by trying new things and meeting new people.

College can be someone's first taste of venturing away from the nest. It's a time to learn about yourself, and a chance to open your mind to a world a lot larger than just the high school bubble. One of the most important things it can teach you is how to be responsible for budgeting your time and deadlines. Without parental supervision over your shoulder, it's an opportunity to showcase responsibility and self-motivation.

I went to a commuter school so going to college felt a lot like high school. I felt like there was definitely less pressure on me in college with classes more spread out allowing me to get work experience and also enjoy time with family.

College was completely different and way better than I ever expected. I stayed home for my first 2 years and was very underwhelmed. I then decided to switch to a big state school, which changed my life forever. I can't even believe the growth and development in these years. I sometimes wish i could always be in college. Make sure you make the most of it and get involved with everything you can.

College is kind of a bubble in the midst of the rest of the world. There are a lot of people to meet, things to do, and new experiences to find. It can be really easy to become overwhelmed or overinvolved, so I'd recommend only committing to a few things at a time and finding your comfort level gradually. It's a very rewarding experience. Unless you are pursuing a degree like medicine or law, I would not get myself worked up over getting the absolute highest grades possible. Focus on learning/doing what you need to get the jobs that you are pursuing.

College was so much more than I expected. For me, college was all about exploration - exploration of who I am, what I stand for, my passions and interests, and the types of relationships I value. It was an opportunity for learning who I am in a different context from how I may have seen myself before and how others that I grew up with may have seen me. I also found it was a time for exploring ideas, concepts, and new perspectives. I got to play with my assumptions and beliefs, and dialogue and debate with people who were coming from a different perspective. You'll work hard, learn a lot, but you'll also have a lot of fun! The friendships, connections, and experiences I had and made there are still valued by me today. To get the most out of it, just be open to all the exploration and opportunities for learning and making connections!

College is a very liberating experience in the sense that you are starting adulthood and you are in control of the career path you want to take. It is not like high school in the sense regarding to classes because you are allowed to create your schedule and choose your professors. I also consider it to be a very important time of my life because I have made many friends during that time frame.

College is a great experience. Lots of opportunities to try anything (outside of academics) like rock climbing, camping, coding competition, lacrosse team etc. Although there will be pressure to perform in class make sure you get involved in stuff outside of class. It's a place where you'll meet students that are open minded in a wide range so be sure to have an open view to learn anything. Also life long friends can be made in college so be sure to be social and friendly in the college experience!
