The first step is to know yourself and set goals that are good for your skills and interests. And of course you want to expand your skills (and maybe your interests too). In general you can perfect skills by narrowing your focus in areas of specialization, but I caution you about specializing too early in life (but only your own judgement can guide you in this).

Write down your goals then identify milestones and set mini-deadlines yourself. At times our goals may seem big and out of reach but if we work at it by chipping away and accomplishing one task at a time, you can reach your goal.

As you write your goals make them very specific and quantifiable in some way. It is also important to express them positively (write what you want, not what you want to avoid). Finally, note that you should write in present tense and with a clear timeframe for achieving your set goals.

I'd start by really thinking about what you want to accomplish (your ultimate goal) and when you want to accomplish it, and then outline the steps that take you there. Think about all of the things you could do to help you reach your goal. Don't edit your thoughts so much at first, let your imagination work for you. Talk to people who might have experience in what you're trying to do and/or people whose opinions you trust.
After you've had a chance to really think about it, edit and consolidate your steps. Then organize them and give your steps a due date.
