I am understanding that you meant Unit secretary? or working as an Admissions co-ordinator?
- Both have same goal but different aspects, Unit Secretary is a very busy role, it is hands full. Phone is ringing on the floor, lights goes off patient's room, pager is ringing, fax is coming, Nurses are looking for the paper-work.
- Admissions co-ordinator is role where you have to make social contact, work on your communication skills, referrals. Your role is to get patient situated in a facility.

As a physician, my secretary answers calls from patients. She directs questions to either the nurses or myself, and she schedules appointments.
