Thank you comment icon Good Evening Monika, Thank you for answering my question. It sounds like you have accomplished lots of education in your life time. I received my Bachelor's of Science with a concentration in Human Services and only received a minor in Business Management. I originally was trying to earn a Bachelor in Business Administration, but the analytics part was a problem for me to comprehend. Kudos to you! Sincerely, Janis S. Janis

Michelle’s Answer

Both Monika and Shana are correct. Going into the medical field...continuing education is a must. Many things change from year to year, like laws on procedures and way things are done, to what is can be done and what is no longer done. So there will be yearly/annual continuing educations (CEUs) that will need to be done. Safety, procedures, rules and regulations, to first aid, etc. They all have annual or every other year requirements that need to be done in order to keep certified, and legally eligible to keep a practice/clinic/ hospital, wherever you end up.

But it always helps to keep up on new information, procedures, news about your field. And furthering your education by getting the next level or just classes is going to help you stay on top of your field. Knowing new ideas, processes, procedures, research, etc. will benefit you and your employer. You may find yourself moving up in the field as well...from being a patient caregiver, to education (teaching the caregivers), to being a manager (head nurse/ office manager/ lab director), to going into administration to help further the rules and regulations that make your field function more effectively. My mother went from a floor nurse, to charge nurse, to educator (within the hospital) to administrator. So by the time she left the hospital and went into the Home Health field...she was an Administrator and made policies to keep the agency running smoothly.

You never know where your education will take you. Best of luck.
