Hi Deepika!

I hope your day is going well and i understand the confusion associated with education and career choices. I think there is a little bit of a language barrier because im not sure i understand your question fully.

For now I am going to assume your in grade 12 of high school prior to entering a four year university. Your confused about what to do next.

Ok so here goes a shot at it. For me high school didn't work out well. I scraped by. Following high school i had no idea what i wanted to do so i worked on a farm for a while. During my time on the farm i noticed that my brain kept developing beyond my expectations so i decided to go to a 4 year school and study engineering.

My advice to you is to stay calm and keep your eyes on the prize. Even if your scope of classes during high school doesn't apply to your interests after high school dont sweat it. Keep your eye on the prize and do what you think is best for you.

If you like education find out what part interest you most. If you like robotics study robotics. If you like food study food. If you like science or engineering, go ahead!

Let me know if this answers your question or induces more questions :-)

Best,

Z

Hello Deepika,

I am not sure as to why are you confused? Who said that that HEBA (History, Economics, Business , Accountancy and English) doesn't have enough scope?

You will be surprised to know that in Delhi, majority of CBSE students who pass out with 98-99% join SRCC (Sri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University) as they are rewarded with very high packages after graduation from best of the companies. Those who score below 98% join other colleges like Lady Sri Ram (LSR) College, Miranda House (both Women's College) etc but cut off is pretty high for Commerce and Business streams. People who get lower marks join PCM /STEM kind of streams. So you should not worry at all.

I can cite one example in my family. one of our daughters did 12th in PCM & Eco. She left JEE coaching etc midway and settled finally for BA (Eco Honours). She was in a decent college in DU and after graduation she is joining for management in one of the top management institutes in India. So, nothing has been lost. In fact you are in advantageous position, if you wish to do MBA or go for MA, Ph.D or for that matter IAS/IPS etc, your present subjects will be more helpful rather than PCMB etc.

Now I would like to tell you the other side of PCM and Engineering graduates in India. You must be knowing that in India's best lots go to IITs and those creme de-la-creme go to IIMs from there. What does these IIMs teach? I am sure you must be knowing : they teach business administration only. So at the end of all this hard work for IIT, secure career etc, they end up studying what you are doing today! So don't be confused and unhappy, rather you should be happy!

What should you do now since you are already in 12th? Must study hard for few more months and crack a good score as that would ensure your entry into best of the colleges in Bangaluru ( Mount Carmel, Christ College/St Joseph etc ), Loyola College, Chennai, SRCC/LSR/ Miranda House (all Delhi), St Joseph/Xaviers (almost all metros in India) and do your graduation. Let me tell you, if you wish to change your core subject in graduation to English and History you can do so after 12th. You can have more information about them through the net!

I am not very clear as to what is career goal in life? If I knew that possibly I could have answered that as well.

Till such time you figure it out, study hard... play harder..... and enjoy hardest ! All the very best!
