Business is what allows us all to get the things that we need in order to live life! There are so many aspects to business that one could find work buying, selling or providing goods and services for anything you can imagine. Think of something that you enjoy doing or eating or going and there's a business for that! LOTS of opportunity!

There are a lot of good things about business. Business and businesses in general solve problems... (kinda like the Cisco Commercial says). With social media being more relevant now a days, the world can’t turn a blind eye to a problem and has, in my opinion, made business take a hard look at being socially responsible and find ways to ensure they are being not just good, but great corporate citizens to their states, country and to the world.

Mark’s Answer

The best advice I was given regarding business is to always be clear about each goal you desire and how it will benefit your organization. Never take steps because that's the way it's always been done; the world moves too quickly. Make sure that everyone involved with executing each task understands its purpose, how their roles factor into its success, and the level of performance that is expected of them. Supervisors will appreciate an employee's genuine desire to understand what needs to happen and why. Many bosses (the good ones, at least) will also appreciate input regarding the best way to achieve goals or add value to desired results. Passiveness will never lead to advancement or greater responsibilities in business.

Active and productive engagement will lead to advancement. Find ways to use your best talents to achieve the organization's goals--even if they are outside your current job description. For example, if your job is data entry but you are a talented writer, propose to write a blog or newsletter article describing an outcome related to your responsibilities (e.g., how the finished report you compiled statistics benefits the end user). Just be sensitive to stepping on anyone else's responsibilities and propose your assistance as a way to supplement your team's effort, not overlap it.

Lilian’s Answer

It helps to be aligned with the vision and values of the business you work for. Career paths in any particular business are often more diverse than you realise so as long as you start somewhere you will gain a lot of insight. Don't be afraid to take risks, seek a mentor and regularly invest in yourself through adopting a growth mindset.
