What's the most nerve wrecking part about being a nurse?

I am patient and very humble guy. Violence does not sway me at all. I tend to care for things in a precarious way. which got me interested in nursing. " the care for others" #nurse #nursing #healthcare#registered-nurses

The most nerve wracking part of being a nurse is 1) when you have to "hurt" someone in order for them to get better. Starting iv, drawing blood, inserting nasogastric tubes, giving meds with side effects, dressing changes, etc. We do our best to comfort someone, but sometimes things hurt. And.
2) when you get a situation that you are not sure what to do and it is an emergency and you know you are the leader. It gets a lot easier with experience but that was nerve wrecking when I was newer.

Being humble will help you in this field. For me is when my coworkers are not tending to their patients, rude patients and family members.

Hi Dexter,
Nursing is a great field and is very rewarding. Being humble is a great quality to possess when it comes to taking care of patients. Fortunately, I have seldom witnessed violence in hospitals that I have worked with; only an occasional rowdy patient. I worked in the ER for over 15 years and loved every minute. Being flexible and adaptable to change will definitely help prevent feelings of being overwhelmed. Having a true desire to be a nurse has kept me interested in the field and satisfied with caring for people. I truly hope you decide to seek nursing as your career, good luck!

Hi Dexter,

The most nerve-wrecking part of being a nurse, for me, is wanting more for my patient than they want for themselves. You may have patients who seek medical care, but then do not want to make necessary changes to either sustain or improve their current level of health. This can be very disheartening.
