Kerrie’s Answer
I am not currently a CNA, I have been an RN for 25+ years. When I was in my 20's and going to the local junior college to finish my prerequisites for nursing school, I worked for 5 years in a children's home for developmentally and physically challenged children of all ages. Then as I moved into the nursing program, I moved across town and then also worked at a different Children's home for similar types of children as a CNA for about 2 years.

I have been a CNA for a grand total of 7 months! It has been a life-changing experience so far.
Hi Deena, it sounds like you truly love what you do. Can you share a little more about that?

Sure! Being a CNA certainly has its ups and downs but the job itself is life-changing. The relationships and interactions that you will share with your patients/ residents are the most life-changing aspect of the job. I work at an assisted living facility so I consistently have the same residents, which allows me to develop long-lasting individual bonds. There is nothing better than hearing a resident tell you how much they love you! It's a wonderful feeling to know that the people that you care for care just as much about you. Learning from the resident and hearing them share stories of their life is another amazing part of the job. It is not the easiest job in the world but to me, it is one of the most rewarding.
