Lisa’s Answer

Hi Ana, I would consider a minor in Spanish. This could be very valuable, especially working in a hospital ER. Also, in terms of jobs, realize that RNs (4 yr degree) is what employers are hiring these days, and NOT nurses with 2 year degrees. This work is now going to Medical Technicians who are paid less. However with a 2 year degree in nursing, there are plenty of jobs in nursing homes, however. Also, with a RN, you will have more opportunity in your career. You can get your Masters or become a Nurse Practitioner. During the past 5 years many nurses with only a 2 year degree have been let go in favor of the Med Techs which cost less. Best of lucK!

Kimberly’s Answer

I agree with Lisa about minoring in Spanish. Social work could also be beneficial to fall back on. Social Workers will help with long term planning and help the patients get into mental facilities, etc.
