Andrea’s Answer

Your most important skills in the beauty and therapy industry are rarely the actual technical aspect.

Being friendly, open, approachable, prompt, available and possessing high level customer service skills will get you far.

Building a clientele through good work and referrals will be vital to you making a long term career.

Sheila’s Answer

Hi Dafne,

To be successful in this career field, you will need to be certified in the beauty technique that you choose, reliable, ability to work independently, enjoy people, be compassionate and work hard.

I have a friend that is a massage therapist, and she says it is very rewarding, however the days are very long.

Jamie’s Answer

I am a licensed massage therapist in Florida I mainly do freelance massage work and get my own client's. I do a lot more social media sharing to get the word out that im offering massage appointments. Then actual massage and I only do 60 minute massages for right now as I get a lot of 2 clients at once for 60 minute s that's 2 hours of massage. The clientele is not a lot of repeat clients because a lot of people are only here temporarily. Or get busy with life. The bookings do fall thru periodically at last minute. I went to school for clinical massage and I do mainly wellness massage now Its a good money maker when you land a client that follows thru but here it is not that steady but my bookings when I have openings are pretty popular as I get a lot of requests. Massage school is tough as I went to the soma institute in Chicago and you will have a lot of nursing foundation classes human anatomy and physiology and pathology and by the time you are done with school I feel at this time after massage school I could go to nursing school and ace the foundation classes. Lol 😆 it's like nursing you deal with crabby people and you here about peoples aches and pains alot
