Will a chromebook help me in college, and not a expensive windows laptop?
I am about to enter college and i am majoring in environmental engineering. I use Google products, and I am needing to know if a Chromebook is right for me. The Chromebook that I am considering is the new HP Chromebook 13 G1 for $599 with an Intel Core m3 processor, a 1800p IPS 3k screen, 4 GB of ram, has a 11.5 hour battery life, and 32 GB of storage which is fine about I am in the cloud. I need to know if this is right for me than a windows laptop that costs more for the right performance, and also have to pay for office, and virus protection. One particular windows machine is the Acer switch Alpha 12.
Thank You #college-bound

Rafael,
Very interesting question. I might suggest that you visit your local electronics store and discuss with a product specialist what would be the right choice for you. Good luck!

Chromebooks are fine for most subjects, however since you are taking environmental engineering and are using any engineering applications similar Autocad, then you will require something with more horsepower. That means you would probably need something with an iCore processor and a robust Video Card. These are usually found in Workstation class computers.
