I started by getting a job with a law firm that specialized in the default mortgage industry. I was a legal assistant that handled the eviction process. I asked tons of questions and took a lot of notes and worked as many hours as they would let me. After a few years I moved to a different state and found a job with a company that was mortgage servicer in their Real Estate Owned (REO) department. I started learning the eviction process for all 50 states. If I had questions about a certain state, I would call the attorney for that state and ask as many questions as I could. I wrote everything down. I found that I really enjoyed this type of work. I even moved with the company when the company relocated to Texas. After 5 years with that company I decided to become a stay at home mom. That lasted for 9 months and then I started looking for a new job in the default mortgage industry. I was fortunate to get hired by Fannie Mae. Fannie Mae has a lot of career development programs that I take advantage of so I can keep improving my job performance.
If you are unsure of what direction you want to go career wise, I highly recommend that you do volunteer work. Pick places that do different types of work. By doing this you can get an idea of what interests you enough to want to pursue a career in that field. Plus, you will gain a lo of work experience for your resume! I hope this helps.
