I believe this answer would be different with every nurse who answered it. There are many stresses with each role in nursing but they are varied. A nurse who works at the bedside will have different stressors as compared to a manager of a unit for instance. My background was in a trauma surgical ICU so there were multiple stressors every minute. We usually cared for 2 patients to each nurse and they were in critical condition so you can imagine stress was very high. We had to deal with the patient but also with the staff who were also under great stress and the patients family. There were times when dealing with family was the biggest stressor because they did not understand what was happening to their loved one, had difficulty in understanding all of the medical information that was being presented to them, and were under tremendous stress due to the situation they were in. some nurses have no desire to work in an ICU but I loved it. I would recommend you talk with nurses in the field of nursing you are interested in and talk with nurses that are working in different roles to obtain additional information as you may want to change your chosen field of career in nursing. Good luck in your future.

Marie’s Answer

I love taking care of people, especially the elderly. The most stressful part is paperwork, it takes away from 1 on 1 time with my residents. Also incompetent nurses/management, I think of my residents as my family. And when I find errors or ethical issues and management doesn't fix the problem, I struggle with that. I just try to take care of my residents to the best of my ability and try and prevent anything bad from happening.
