What are the required technological skills that you need to be a successful neurosurgeon?

Neurosurgeons also require great patience. Many of the problems that they manage are lifelong problems or require very tedious work. This is a stressful occupation, so you will need to manage that aspect carefully with exercise, close relationships with friends/family/colleagues, etc.

As far as technical skills, you will need good hand eye coordination and the ability to perform minute maneuvers under great stress. You will also need stamina because the hours are long.

Neurosurgery is a technically demanding surgical specialty. You’ll need a special blend of skills and personal qualities which include:
- a high degree of manual dexterity
- good hand-eye co-ordination, excellent vision and visuo-spatial awareness
- a blend of confidence and caution
- good organizational ability and excellent communication skills
- physical stamina to cope with long hours and demanding nature of the work
- emotional strength in order to manage very sick patients
- the ability to lead and manage a team effectively
- able to embrace change and constantly developing technologies
- a strong interest in anatomy and physiology

All physicians work with technology on a daily basis. Charting is done on a computer or tablet; as is reviewing medical imaging.
Neurosurgeons are also performing robot-assisted surgeries.
