Environmental science is a very broad field and you can go in many different directions. Once you determine what direction you would like to go in, then you can really look into specific skills. But in general, you should have a good understanding of science fundamentals, be able to work with data, and have good communication skills. To give you an example of what I did. I wanted to get a degree in Meteorology. When I was in high school, I took biology, chemistry, and physics as well as algebra, trigonometry , and pre-calculus. After college, I got into air pollution and environmental planning. Some thing to strive for would also be management skills. I have found that to be invaluable to me and there seems to be a real need in the industry.
