Brennan’s Answer

Definitely encourage you to seek an internship which can really help connect the theory and principles of what you have learned in school with real world practice and relevance. Talk to your career placement program at your school about your desire to seek an internship. They likely have several employers who regularly seek interns at your school. You might also talk to the professors within your field of study. I also encourage you to use job search engines like indeed.com and search for internships in the city or field you are interested in. Start early as many internships are offered prior to winter break for the following summer. Don't get discouraged, it may take some work and patience to find an internship! Good luck!

Vineeth’s Answer

You stand the best chance of finding the perfect internship if you employ several different strategies. Networking, attending career fairs, looking for internship listings online, and identifying potential employers through classified ads, the local Chamber of Commerce, or by searching online are all ways to begin conducting your internship search. Finding an internship requires time and planning, but the results are definitely worth the effort. Here are some recommendations for those seeking a successful internship.

1. Start Your Search Early
2. Identify Your Broad Career Interests
3. Network
4. Check Online Resources
5. Attend Career Fairs
6. Contact Employers

New graduates and those experiencing career change can also try internships to gain perspective on new career fields and develop new knowledge and skills. Internships can be the bridge between an unsatisfying career and a potentially new and exciting venture

I too encourage you to seek internships while you are in college. Start early, use all the resources available, college career center, online resources, friends and family networks, etc.

With a business degree, you may find internships in business analysis, sales, marketing, project management, and all other areas. If you have a career direction in mind, you may try to find internships that will lead to that path. Good luck!

Joe’s Answer

My time interning during college was fundamental to my career today. The networking and skills learned were incredibly valuable.

Work with your council or see if your school has a career advisement department or similar. Aim for an internship that's related to what you'd like to do for your career. If after you start your internship you find yourself fetching coffee, prove you're more valuable doing meaningful projects. Make your job what you want it to become, it won't be handed to you. The interns that stand out are the ones that attract the best opportunities.
