Dolanda’s Answer

Hello Mohammad,

The first thing you should know is the information about the company you are applying to. Do your research and understand all aspects of the company so you are more prepared to ask and answer questions. Confidence is key! Be confident in your responses, sell yourself to the employer, you know you better than anyone else. Tell them all those things that make you uniquely qualified for the position. Also, write down questions you want to know about the company but don't focus on money or benefits. Be more sincere and ask things like, "what does an average day of work look like" or "what are your expectations that you expect me to achieve on a daily/weekly/monthly basis". When speaking, take your time, look the interviewer in the eyes and be sure to smile with confidence.

You got this!

Hi Mohammed,

The best way to do well in an interview is to be prepared! The good news is if you got the interview you are most likely qualified for the position! The interview is more so to make sure you are a good fit for the company and an opportunity for you to interview them as well.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare for the interview:

  1. Research the company. You don't have to memorize the company/school history but know a few facts about them.

  2. Research the person you are interviewing with if possible.

  3. Be able to tell them about yourself and why you are interested in the position.

  4. Be familiar with your resume in case they ask you about past positions

  5. Practice in the mirror or with a friend/family member

  6. Look up a few common questions interviewers ask.
Here are a few to think about:
    1. Why are you interested in this position?
    2. Tell me about a time you experienced a challenge and how you overcame it.
    3. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
    4. What separates you from other candidates?
    5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

  7. Go to the interview prepared to ask questions as well.
Here are a few sample questions I like to ask:
    1. What does a typical day look like this role?
    2. Who would I be reporting to directly and how would you describe their management stye?
    3. What has made you successful in this company?

Most importantly, be confident and be yourself! Best of luck.

Kishma’s Answer

There are really no tricks that can guarantee you will pass an interview. I also suffer from a severe case of nerves when interviewing. Over the years, I have the found the one thing that helps is being prepared. While you don't want to memorize word for word how you will respond to different questions, you do want to have a general sense of what you would like to say in a clear concise manner.

You will do great, just be an authentic version of yourself.
