You have an interesting title! :)

"Hacking" generally means "using software in a way unexpected by the developer to get a result you want". It is often used to bypass security... and other "unethical hacker" uses.

"Ethical hacking" generally means either 1. Doing the bypass and warning people about it without exploiting the hole for your gain or 2. Using the software that you legitimately have in a way that is simply unexpected. Microsoft Excel can do a LOT of things, for instance. Both instances are challenging and rewarding... and worth looking at.

"Would like to try in another field" is a little unclear. Programming is almost always done in conjunction with some other field. If you want to get involved in finances, sciences, engineering, entertainment (or practically anything else), you will generally be able to take any software skills with you.. and contribute. And.... even better... you can switch a lot of your knowledge from one application domain to another. :)

Best of luck... enjoy... and stay ethical!

Hi Aditya,

There is a need for talented minds who can find holes in software that "black hat" hackers might exploit. "White hat" hackers come up through the ranks of computer security and work in cyber security, network security and as security software developers.

Check out the Women's Society of Cyberjutsu: http://womenscyberjutsu.org/ they can help you pave your way into the field.

Excellent choice for a career, best to you!

Bridget
