Estelle’s Answer

Radiology by itself sometimes does not involve much patient interaction, so you might need to specialize in interventional radiology to get the patient contact that it seems like you are wanting. That's the difference between sitting in a dark room reading studies online or getting out and doing exciting new procedures using imaging equipment to assist you.
Good luck!

My dad is a radiologist and he is a very fun and exciting grandpa to my children. I would say that you should pick the field that most interests you. If you enjoy the field, you can always form good relationships with the people around you and gain great satisfaction from your work?

Richard’s Answer

There are multiple subspecialties in Radiology, so the different subspecialties attract different types of people. I am an Interventional radiologist. I spend about half my time looking at Medical Imaging ( CT, x-ray, ultrasound, and MRI) to diagnose diseases. The other half of my time is spent performing procedures. We use ultrasound, CT, and x-ray to guide various Tools into different parts of the body to diagnose and treat illness.
