Should I get a ADN or BSN?
I will get a BSN but I need advice. Is it smarter to get an ADN first so I can at least get job at a hospital and get experience and then get my BSN or just wait out the 4 years and go straight for the BSN?

I am glad you posed this question because this is something I have discussed with my own daughter who is preparing to go off to college. She wants to do Early Childhood Education. What I proposed is to go a a 2-year college first, you will not only save money, but you will get a degree that you can use right away to get a job in your field. That way you can work a little while and save up money to finish up your education. She wanted to have the full four year college experience so she chose to go that route. My advice to you is that it depends on what you are really desiring to do deep down. If working and getting first hand experience is more important then I suggest you do the ADN first. You will have professional qualifications that can earn you your independence and you will always be able to return to school to complete your BSN when you are ready. Some young people, like my daughter do not want to run the risk of having things come up along the way that would hinder them from returning to school down the road so they rather just do it right away and get it done. It all depends on your priorities but in your shoes I would choose the first option. The other benefit is that you can do the short route and see if this is really the profession for you rather than spending years in college only to find out it is not for you. Whatever you decide I know it will be the right choice for you.
