Estelle’s Answer

Dennis is correct. I have been practicing medicine for 30 years. The road to becoming a physician is long an difficult, but I cannot imagine a more fulfilling career. I love taking care of patients in the office. I truly enjoy performing surgery. My job is never mundane. The paperwork and charting is sometimes burdensome, and dealing with insurance companies can be difficult, but every job has its goods and bads.

Richard’s Answer

Yes! It is absolutely worth it. There are a lot of long hours studying in the library followed by long hours in the hospital, but it is a fulfilling career. There are so many opportunities after medical school... different specialties appeal to different individuals. Or you can follow a nonclinical route in research or even hospital administration.

Rachel’s Answer

Yes, I think that it is the best job in the world. I plan to practice medicine for as many years as I can regardless of my financial circumstances. The relationship that you develop with patients would be hard to match in any other field.
