What typ eof Nursing certificate or degree would give me the best advantage when it come to being hired?

I'm aware that there are several different options, such as a BSN, but I'm not sure which I should aim to acheive. I am graduating high school this month, and as I'm only 16, I know I will be younger than most of my classmates in college when I do get my degree, which will make employers more likely to hire them. I'm looking for the degree that will give me the best job of getting a good job after I graduate from college. Anyone have any advice? #nursing #nursing-education

Most certainly a BSN since hospitals are moving toward only hiring BSN's and a lot of states will start requiring BSN's and phasing out Diploma and Associate's programs. It is really as simple as that

Depends on what your long term goals are. Do you plan to work in a hospital, nursing home, home health, or something more like a manager or teach? Everyone always says they are phasing out Associate degrees but with the nursing shortage that is unlikely to happen. Some Hospitals are what’s called “Magnet” status so they have a requirement to hire a certain number of BSN candidates but almost all other hospitals and facilities it does not make a bit of difference. In order to teach or perform research a BSN is also usually required. However seeing how young you are it would probably just be more beneficial for you to just go straight through a BSN program being 20-21 starting your nursing career is still very young and that comes with some animosity from older co-workers that you now have to manage, so be prepared for that. Its not always easy but once you show them you are a great nurse that usually fades away! Good luck on your degree.
