Hello, Devrick

There are several ways to lower the cost of pharmacy school or any other program you are interested inn.

  1. Program/School - Public university such as University of Chicago will be comparatively cheaper than a private university such as Roosevelt University. I suggest before you pick a school calculate and estimate total cost of your education that will include tuition, books, commute to school and to rotation sites, cost of living if you planning to rent an apartment near the school.

  2. Scholarships - Public and Private universities both have various scholarship you can apply. I personally did my PharmD from private school (due to smaller class size and better teacher to student ratio) I applied and was awarded scholarship such as Jewel-Osco and Walgreens community scholarships. Now there as also Independent Scholarship available, but you have to find them, a good app to reference is Scholly, also if you work for a community retail chain such as Walgreens or CVS you need to talk to the supervisor on how to apply for their scholarships which ranges upto 10,000/year.

  3. Work and Save: Now this one depends on how cheap can you. You really need to minimize your spending as much as possible till you graduate, I can tell you it is possible, save money and work as well. Work, manage your time to study and you will again hands on experience while you work as Pharmacy Tech/Intern and make decent money (the pay keeps increasing as you proceed through your years in pharmacy school, average a 3rd year pharmacy student can make upto $20/hr.)

Hope this helps.
