Estelle’s Answer

Biomedical research is invaluable during the pandemic. Researchers help in determining the effectiveness of personal protective equipment. They work on the laboratory equipment needed for diagnosing disease. I presume that biomedical engineers will help with the machines necessary for the development of the vaccinations as well. Biomedical engineers also develop equipment used in the hospitals taking care of COVID 19 patients.

Philomena’s Answer

Biomedical research is key during during this pandemic in all aspects of health. Firstly, biomedical researchers can be found in medical laboratory were they can help with sample taking. Also at the research institutes, biomedical researchers perform testing of cov 19 samples to know whether it is present or absent in the samples. There is also an aspect of clinical research were biomedical researchers conduct research to know more about corona viruses, it’s sequence (how it looks like), it’s mutations (how it has changed from its original nature). This same group of researchers are involved in the production of vaccines and its clinical trials to make sure its safe for human use.
These are some of the important duties that the biomedical research is involved with during this pandemic.
Even after the pandemic the researchers will still work to make sure there are methods or ways to curb covid from reoccurring or even hitting us hard like before.

Valerie’s Answer

I am currently in a research lab for research on a dermatological condition, and all labs in our area are shut down right now because it is non-essential for COVID-19. However, biomedical research regarding vaccinations, immunity, and virology studies for COVID-19 is essential to us combat this virus!
