It's great to hear that you've mostly made up your mind to pursue a career in healthcare- congratulations! I think you'll need quite a list of things, but it sounds like you may be up for the challenge. I would say drive, persistence, empathy, and patience are at the top of the list, but there are so many qualities that we all hope our healthcare works have. As you can imagine, those in need often find themselves in vulnerable positions and us nurses are the ones they are trusting during this fragile and emotional state. I would encourage you to think of many diff. scenarios you might face along the journey to become a nurse, and determine how you would likely respond to them. Do you feel good about your responses? You might also want to check out the possibility of shadowing a healthcare worker (maybe not a nurse intially, but perhaps a CNA), and see what your thoughts are after that experience.

Hi, Yarethzy! It's great that you are already considering your career path as a sophomore in high school. There are many steps you can take now to prepare for your future as an undergraduate student, nursing student and practicing nurse.
1. Research different roles nurses have and see if any of them interest you
2. Look up the curriculum of nursing school to determine whether those subjects truly interest you
3. Reflect on your values, morals, and aspirations. Does all that align with the mission of the nursing field (compassionate, personalized patient care)?
4. Start volunteering/getting experience in the medical field now. That should help you clarify whether you will enjoy this field or not.
5. Look into the different ways of attaining a nursing degree (i.e. community college, university, etc.)
Good luck! The medical field is amazing.

Schools wants someone with bedside experience at least 2 years which means if it is Elementary, you would need to have pediatric bedside or hospital/clinic experience.

To become a nurse you have to begin with the interest and passion to assist others with health issues.
Specific steps include being accepted into a two year (associate degree in nursing) or four year program (BSN).
Both programs teach you in the classroom and in the clinical arena.
Once you successfully graduate either program you will be eligible to sit for the nursing exam.
Once you pass the exam you become a registered nurse.
:
1. research what nursing programs are available in your area and find out specific requirements for admission to the program
2. volunteer at a long term care facility, hospital or health care facility
3. talk with the school guidance counselor regarding nursing
4. ask the school guidance counselor if they know of anyone in the nursing field who would be willing to talk with you
