Should I focus more on excelling in my major or taking care of my family?

I was raised to always take care of your family no matter what, but my family members want me to go to college and get a degree that I will be able to use to earn money and have a stable life. I am conflicted on what would be a better choice to make if I ever had to choose between one of these things. #psychology #college-major #family

Your question has a big "IF" in the last clause, i.e., "...if I ever had to choose between one of these things." Why are you worried about something that hasn't yet happened?? You need to prepare for your future, regardless of what happens tomorrow! Follow your dreams and get a good education. Perhaps a consultation with a guidance counselor will help you deal with the fear that is holding you back. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Zach’s Answer

I faced a similar circumstance when I was in college. I helped support family members in college while taking 16-18 hours per semester and working a healthy part time job. The short answer I would give to this is both. The thing that is great about life is it will absolutely push you to the limits sometimes but with that you will find out exactly how strong you are which is much stronger than you think possible. If you have the drive and the passion the rest will com naturally and you will find a way to make things work. Whether you think you can or think you can't you're right and I think you will do a great job at both. :)
