Check out volunteermatch.org as a site that will help you find a match to your skills. Check out the websites of local hospitals and clinics in your area. Check out the websites of non-profit clinics and community health organizations in your area. Hospitals and clinics usually have an information desk at the main entrance, so stop by in person and ask the person at the desk ( who's probably a volunteer) who you can talk to about volunteer opportunities. Good luck!

Hi Elizabeth:

You can volunteer in the hospital as a receptionist, deliver books to patients, read books to patients, work in the lobby and give directions to people, do wheel chair assist, give snacks and drinks to patients also during and after surgery give information to the patients family. There are so many opportunities to volunteer. Usually hospitals give you meal coupon, you can participate in their special events and they have banquet and award ceremony for special recognition for volunteers.

Lisa’s Answer

Many hospital have volunteer programs. You would first search their website or go to the front desk of the hospital and inquire about volunteer opportunities. Be prepared with your hours of availability and references. Perhaps your guidance counselor at your high school can also recommend medical facilities that have volunteer programs for students.
