Nandita’s Answer

Hi! It definitely is doable - I am currently a senior in college, and last semester (as a junior) I was working full time as a co-op while also being a full time student (taking four classes at my university). While it may seem really intimidating, with proper time management, it becomes much easier to ensure that deadlines are met and you are completing both school and professional responsibilities properly! I usually do this by identifying my tasks for the week in advance, scheduling out time blocks to get this work done, and making sure I have some flexibility in case there are last minute changes - usually, Google Calendar really helps me with this, and also a physical planner :)

I had a full time job a while ago, together with a part time and I was going to get my Master's degree, while living on my own. I am not a genius and I made it, so you can make it as long as you make it your focus and your goal and strive for it

Yes, you can work full time and go to school full time. Before registering for classes, suggest you think about the following and really plan what it is you want to achieve and the best way for you to get there; have different options mapped out.

Have you discussed your goals with your current employer? Will they work with you to adjust your work schedule to accommodate a class?
Do you have the support of your family, friends and others in your immediate support group to provide encouragement and understanding that you may not be able to participate in some family/social functions.
Researched how you will pay for school...loans, personal savings, etc.
Researched scholarships, grants or other programs to help pay for school that you do not have to repay.
Talk to school representatives get a sense of how many classes you would need to take per semester in order to complete your educational goals in 3-5 years. If you have taken college courses before, have your transcript reviewed to see what will transfer. This could help in deciding which college you want to apply to.
Does the school offer an opportunity for you to gain college credit for your previous work/life experiences? This may help reduce the number of schools you need to take.

This is not an all inclusive list, but yes, one can work full time and go to school full time, but planning and having good organization and time management skills are key. Keep the goal flexible so adjustments or changes can be made in the time frame for completing this goal. Life happens and flexibility will make it easier to make adjustments when the unexpected happens.

Good luck.

It is doable. I worked full-time and got my MBA in the evening. It took me four full (including summer) years to complete the MBA. You will need to be very organized and plan to use your time efficiently to fit it all in. Work was my priority as it was the means by which to pay for my education. As a result, my college experience suffered some and at times I settled for a B vs. an A.

You will be exhausted at times especially in the summer when the pace of the classes is very fast due to the short semesters. However, in addition to having a degree, the organization and time management skills that you develop are good life skills. Good luck!
